Update from Rebecca Wright

bonfires guarding against looters bonfires guarding against looters
Thank you all for your prayers for the people here and for protection as we work through the aftermath of the earthquake. Last night half of the neighborhood stayed up all night keeping vigil to protect from looters. The neighbors have gone out of their way to make sure that I'm safe, inviting me in for dinners and last night inviting me to spend the night at their house as looters roamed the streets. The men in the neighborhood split into two groups to block off each end of the street and set up campfires to keep guard. They chatted and watched out for the neighborhood until early morning, and are planning an asado (cookout) for tomorrow night to continue their guard.

Last night we were looking forward to a good night's sleep as the aftershocks lessened in intensity; but then warnings of looters came around shaking everyone up again.

Pray for Jackie, a neighbor who's had a headache and stomach pains since this began, that she will be able to get rest and peace, and that God will use this to draw her to Him. She's been very sweet about keeping an eye out for me, as have several neighbors and church members, for which I'm very grateful.

Please continue to pray for the people as they try to recuperate from all of this.

Pray that God would use this catastrophe to draw people to Himself, and to open an unprecedented door of opportunity for the sharing of the gospel.
